2019 Show Programme

When the Lane family held the first flower and vegetable show in the 1880’s at the Manor, they were unlikely to have imagined that it would still be going in 2019.  There are probably two main reasons it has survived.

Firstly, the warm welcome given to visitors on the day; as well as throughout the year to villagers old and new who want to get involved with the planning and enjoy belonging to a group working towards the same goal of a great Show.

The second is the willingness of the organisers to change with the times and try new things whilst not losing the essence of the country show.   This year a music stage is being tried for the first time but still there is a traditional Punch and Judy Show, the delight of many generations.

To mark this 100th year of The Society, Past Presidents have been invited to a reception at the 2019 Show.   Many people have been involved with The Show over the years but none more so than Honorary Lifetime President Mrs Ivy Butcher, who sadly died in the spring at the magnificent age of 102.  Her absence will be keenly felt on this special day.

It will be a fitting tribute to Ivy and the hundreds of others who have worked in their turn over the years, to see that enough village residents of the 21st century commit a little of their own time to ensure that our beloved Show continues to adapt and prosper well into the future.
